Summary/Objective

Neighbors Of Watertown, Inc. (NOWI) provides a variety of quality affordable housing opportunities to the residents of the City of Watertown and Jefferson County. These opportunities include over 400 residential rental units as well as approximately 30 commercial rental spaces that arc maintained by the company. Most units are located in the city of Watertown and the remaining units are in the Philadelphia area.

Evening Security personnel help ensure the safety of our rental buildings and/or buildings owned by the company throughout the City of Watertown. Shift days will be flexible and based on availability of security personnel.

Essential Functions

  • Driving by and/or walking through rental buildings/property owned. At each site staff will:
    • Monitor physical properties
    • Observe and report any suspicious/illegal activities on NOWI properties
    • Note gatherings and disturbances
    • Observe and report unauthorized residents and vehicles
    • Respond to lock outs by readmitting tenants to apartments
    • Note unauthorized or unescorted quests
    • Review security films as necessary
  • Complete daily written reports of any occurrences noted during shift
  • Meet weekly with designated NOWT staff to be advised of current tenants and any outstanding issues they need to be aware of
  • Adheres to the set work schedule and all other company policies.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to stressful situations. Security staff will have phone access to NOWI staff during their shift for any questions or problems that arise. This position is expected to work with law enforcement personnel, therefore they are not allowed to bear arms while on duty.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Hours usually begin at 4 pm and end at 12:30 am. There is a potential for flexibility and may be subject to change based on agency needs.

Travel

This position must travel between all NOWI locations during a shift.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associates in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Psychology or similar preferred
  • Ability to work well with others and share duties
  • Reliable transportation for accessing scattered sites
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check

License/Certification
