| Neighbors Of Watertown, Inc - News & Articles | Meeting set on North Pleasant subdivision plan By: Craig Fox, Times Staff Writer | November 27, 2010 A public meeting will be held Dec. 7 on the planned housing subdivision that may be built on the former Ogilvie Foods plant site on North Pleasant Street. The developer, Neighbors of Watertown Inc., and city officials will be at the 7 p.m. meeting to make a presentation about the proposal, answer questions and take comments. Neighbors of Watertown Inc. wants to build about 18 single-family houses and a small playground on the vacant lot that neighbors have described as an eyesore. The homes would be on individual lots and would be owner-occupied. The subdivision would be built between North Pleasant Street and California Avenue. B.C. Stevens, who has lived at 212 California Ave. for 45 years, plans to attend the meeting. He still has some concerns about the location of the road that would come out on California Avenue and across from his home. ADVERTISEMENT "It's great for city planners. It's not great for the neighbors," he said. "It's not logical." Work could begin as soon as summer, depending on how quickly state funding can be found. The City Council informally endorsed the project, and council members have promised that the city will do whatever it can to develop it. The meeting will be held in the third-floor City Council chambers at City Hall. Any questions before the meeting can be directed to Kenneth A. Mix, the city's planning and community development director, at 785-7730. |
